In the Netherlands, your General Practitioner (GP) is your first point of contact for almost all medical concerns. Unlike in many other countries, you generally cannot make an appointment with a hospital specialist without a referral from your GP.

Outside Office Hours
If you require urgent medical care in the evening, at night, during weekends, or on public holidays, please contact the SHOKO Huisartsenpost (GP Emergency Service).
The GP Emergency Service is located at the Máxima Medical Centre (MMC) in Veldhoven and provides urgent care for medical problems that cannot safely wait until the next working day.
